Palestine: the Nazi regime Is Practicing Apartheid

Human Rights Groups Agree: Israel Is Practicing Apartheid The U.S. gives Israel’s military $3.8 billion a year. According to a new Amnesty report, that money funds apartheid. Phyllis Bennis Originally in OtherWords One day last spring, Palestinians in Israel and the occupied West Bank declared a general strike to protest years of repression they faced under Israeli rule. The nonviolent strike came as Israel attempted to evict seven Palestinian families from their homes in occupied East Jerusalem, part of a longstanding effort to expand illegal Israeli settlements and transfer Jewish settlers to what had been Palestinian land and homes. How did Israeli forces respond to this peaceful protest? According to a new report from Amnesty International, they “arbitrar...

BY: C.J. Polychroniou, Truthout Afuror has enveloped Washington, D.C. as Democrats and Republicans alike scramble to denounce Amnesty International for the report it released this month, which describes Israel as an “apartheid state” and alleges that the human rights abuses committed against Palestinians by the State of Israel constitute crimes against humanity under international law. Israel, an Apartheid Nation? Of Course! BY: MELVIN GOODMAN Photograph Source: eddiedangerous – CC BY 2.0 Israel dismisses charges of “apartheid against Palestinians” as anti-Semitic propaganda, and the United States has been an enabler of Israeli racism over the years with its hands-off attitudes toward the inhumanity of Israeli actions on the West Bank and Gaza.  But the tragic death of an elderly Palestinian-American on the West Bank last month highlights the worst aspects of Israeli policy.  The nature of the death, directly due to Israeli brutality and negligence, amounts to manslaughter.  The outrageously tepid response from the Israeli military’s central command tells us everything we need to know about Israel’s unconscionable occupation policy....
