Posted by: John Phoenix The Labour Party has for many decades been seen by the British working classes as the champion and protector of our National Health Service (NHS). Whilst the Attlee government did create this entity, it was a tactic to appease working class Brits post WW2 and aimed to prevent the spread of the desire for proletarian revolution from the great Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) to our nation. Any illusions of a Labour administration benignly bestowing goodness or succour to the proletariat must surely have been smashed by the experience of the 21st century. Is Britain going bust?

Posted by: John Phoenix Britain’s economy is in the world’s largest top ten.  Its GDP is about £3,22tn, amounting to about £48,000 per capita.  There are estimated to be 31.5 million households in the UK, meaning that GDP per household would amount to some £122,000.    Average income per household is in the region of £40,000. It sounds very comfortable, but of course the reality is very different. Inequality of distribution The inequality inherent in the way Britain’s national income is distributed, as evidenced by Britain’s gini coefficient standing (officially) at 0.36, is startling. The declarations made by Sir Keir Starmer regarding his willingness to send British forces to Ukraine should be seen in this light. Since it became clear that the Ukraine war was sliding towards an ignominious defeat for the Nato-backed forces of the Kiev regime, the US under the Trump administration has been trying to play a double game. On the one hand it has been engaging the Russians in negotiations and talking about ‘restoring relations’ with them.
