GAZA: End of the Road by Agron Belica; Dedicated to Gaza Activist Vittorio Arrigoni

NOVANEWS   Tim King and Sean King Salem-News.com New song and music video celebrate life of Vik Arrigoni of ISM, the International Solidarity Movement.     (SALEM, Ore.) – While producing the music video for this new Vittorio Arrignoi tribute song by Agron Belica,  with my son Sean, it occurred to me how lucky I am to have my children, and how Vittorio or Vik, as he was known to his friends, won’t get to become my age, or experience things that I and so many extremely fortunate western people do each day. Had Vik been allowed to reach his real potential, he would have moved mountains. As it is, only he and a handful of others have been carrying the load for world humanity in Gaza, and that is tragic like his death, and also the point of this important tribute by our good fr...

Two main suspects in slaying of Gaza activist killed in Hamas raid

NOVANEWS Security forces from Hamas-run government exchange fire with suspected killers of the Italian activist, also arrest three more suspects during siege on their home in Gaza refugee camp. Haaretz.com Two main suspects in the killing of a pro-Palestinian Italian activist died on Tuesday and a third was captured during a raid by Hamas security forces trying to detain the fugitives, the Hamas-run Interior Ministry said. Hamas said one of the dead militants, a Jordanian, had shot himself after throwing a grenade that had killed the second when the Hamas forces stormed the building where they had been hiding in the central Gaza Strip. In this Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2008 photo, Palestinian activist Vittorio Arrigoni carries an aid box from the ‘Free Gaza’ boat in Gaza city. Ph...

Pro-Palestinians sail to ‘document Zionist aggression’

NOVANEWS   Foreign activists onboard ‘Oliva’ to escort Palestinian fishermen along Gaza coast, record any international law violations. Zionist says will not allow blockade’s breache A yacht carrying pro-Palestinian activists sailed along the Gaza Strip coast Wednesday, escorting Palestinian fishing boats, with the intention of “documenting Zio-Nazi aggression towards Gaza fishermen.” The tracking boat, “Oliva,” took to sea Wednesday morning carrying activists from the Unites States, Spain, Italy and Belgium belonging to different foreign organizations. One of the organizers of the event was Italian activist Vittorio Arrigoni, 36, who was killed last week in Gaza by an Al-Qaeda linked organization. Vessel involved in deadly raid in May 2010 scheduled to take part in another floti...

Goldstone breathes new life into Gaza report

NOVANEWS Posted by: Sammi Ibrahem Chiar of West Midland Palestine Solidarity Campaign The Goldstone Report fails to justly present the facts about Israel's war crimes in Gaza. Richard Falk Critics say the Goldstone Report's emphasis on Hamas violations of international humanitarian law in Gaza unfairly compares war crimes by Palestinians to those of Israel [EPA] Ever since it first struck the raw nerve of Israeli political consciousness, I thought it misleading to associate the Goldstone Report so exclusively with its chair, Judge Richard Goldstone. After all, despite his deserved prominence as an international jurist, he was the least substantively qualified of the four members of the mission. Part of the intensely hostile Israeli reaction undoubtedl...

SURPRISE, SURPRISE–Zio-Nazi army again uses white phosphorous in latest attack on Gaza

NOVANEWS   Medical examinations point to the continued use of prohibited weapons by Israel in Gaza Saleh Naami, Ihab Keheal, head of the justice department’s medical examiner’s office in the Gaza Strip, has stated that examinations conducted by his office have unveiled evidence indicating that the Israeli army used white phosphorous and other internationally prohibited weapons in its latest operation in Gaza. Making his comments in a press statement released Monday, Keheal said that the bodies of Palestinians killed in the latest escalations were torn apart and charred to the extent that they were barely recognizable. Keheal added that his office was conducting delicate tests to discover the instruments used by the occupation army in its operations on civilians, including weapons ...

Staying human: The legacy of Vittorio Arrigoni

NOVANEWS by Ramzy Baroud “Dear Mary,” wrote Italian justice activist Vittorio Arrigoni to a friend. “Do you [know who] will be on the boats?… I’m still in Gaza, waiting for you. I will be at the boat to greet you. Stay human. Vik.” “Mary” is Mary Hughes Thompson, a dedicated activist who braved the high seas to break the Israeli siege on Gaza in 2008. Vittorio Arrigoni, or Vik, was reportedly murdered by a fundamentalist group in Gaza a few hours after he was kidnapped on Thursday, April 14. The killing was supposedly in retaliation for Hamas’ crackdown on this group’s members. All who knew Vik will attest to the fact that he was an extraordinary person, a model of compassion, solidarity and humanity. Arrigoni’s body was discovered in an abandoned house hours after he was kidnappe...

Vittorio Arrigoni, a winner

NOVANEWS   Posted by: Sammi Ibrahem Chair of West Midland Palestine Solidarity Campaign   Amazingly, a media group in Gaza City was filming footage of Vik for a documentary on him. What follows is selected from that footage. I know that in the wake of Vik's assassination, politics and the world and the endless churning destruction and debate have not stopped. Isabel Kershner is turning a martyr's death into anti-Hamas hasbara; the Jordanian assassin has reportedly killed himself to evade capture; the zealots try pathetically to wear away the reputation of a hero; war on Libya rages; Iraq burns in a long-running war of profiteering destruction against Iraq. Time does not stop while we mourn, nor does it roll back so we can shake the dead awake, repair the damage and destructio...

Gazans to hold ‘state funeral’ for slain Italian

NOVANEWS by crescentandcross   GAZA CITY, Palestinian Territories (AFP) – Palestinians in Gaza are to hold a “state funeral” for a murdered Italian activist, Hamas said on Sunday, adding it was close to arresting all those involved in his death. Hamas foreign affairs and planning minister Mohammed Awad told reporters that slain activist Vittorio Arrigoni’s body would be moved to Egypt via the Rafah border crossing on Monday after a funeral in Gaza. “We’re waiting for his friends and relatives to arrive in Gaza. Some are already here but there are others we are waiting for, and then there will be a state funeral,” Awad said. “We expect afterwards that his body will be taken to the Rafah crossing and then on to Cairo, according to the wishes of his family.” Hamas officials said ...

VITTORIO ARRIGONI, THE MAN WHO SAW TOO MUCH …. KNEW TOO MUCH

NOVANEWS   Posted By: Sammi Ibrahem Chair of West Midland PSC Arrigoni documented Zio-Nazi attacks on Palestinian ambulance workers, ‘the most heroic people I ever met’ by Philip Weiss An amazing video of the late Vik Vittorio Arrigoni from May 2009. At minute 6 he documents the attacks on Palestinian ambulance drivers during Zio-Nazi Holocaust in Gaza; you see two stretcher-bearers being shot at in Gaza City. Remember, this is an essential point of the now-disputed al-Samouni case, in which ambulances were prevented from approaching the bombed family, and at least one person died who surely might have survived their injuries. Doesn’t that constitute a deliberate attack on civilians?  This is from the Goldstone Report on the al-Samouni family: [A]t around 4 p.m. [J...
