The Gaza ceasefire agreement is facing critical challenges on multiple fronts, marked by persistent Israeli military violations.
Reports from Palestinian media indicate ongoing security breaches by Israeli occupation forces across the occupied Gaza Strip, raising concerns about the long-term commitment to the de-escalation agreement.
Israeli Violations
Israeli warships reportedly opened fire off the coasts of Rafah and Khan Yunis.
Israeli occupation forces conducted an airstrike near the Education area in northern Beit Lahia. Furthermore, artillery shelling was reported targeting the town of Bani Suheila.
In a significant breach, Israeli forces were reported to have demolished several residential buildings after blowing them up east of Khan Yunis.
The campaign against the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) continues, with Israeli forces reportedly obstructing the agency’s operations and blocking attempts at reconstruction, thereby preventing the return of essential services to refugee camps.
Amid this environment of Israeli violations, European officials have issued warnings against potential efforts to divide the Gaza Strip. These warnings coincide with reports that Washington is planning to establish a large military base in the “Gaza Envelope” area, underscoring deep international disagreements over the Strip’s future security and administrative structure.
Infrastructure Collapse
The daily suffering of Gaza’s population continues unabated, with public health infrastructure showing unprecedented deterioration two months into the agreement:
The Palestinian Red Crescent Society issued an alarm, revealing that up to 80% of the water supply in the Gaza Strip is contaminated. This contamination has fueled a dangerous surge in infectious diseases, with over 70,000 cases of hepatitis recorded since the onset of the conflict.

The Gaza Ministry of Health confirmed recording a staggering 6,000 amputation cases requiring urgent, long-term rehabilitation. Vulnerable demographics are disproportionately affected, with children accounting for 25% and women for 12.7% of the total recorded amputations.
The entire Strip remains in a state of sustained power outage. The Director of Public Relations and Media at the Gaza Electricity Distribution Company stated that the war destroyed over 80% of the distribution networks, estimating initial infrastructure and machinery losses at approximately $728 million.
Diplomacy Under Strain
The continuing violations and humanitarian collapse highlight the deep fragility of the ceasefire. Despite the reported American administration’s persistence in advancing the agreement, internal US documents cited by Politico reveal that officials harbor “deep concerns” about its potential collapse. These fears are rooted in the immense difficulty of implementing key provisions, such as the potential deployment of a multinational security force, amid ongoing Israeli military aggressions.
In another development, US Envoy Jared Kushner recently visited Israel to discuss the agreement’s second phase, reportedly reaching an understanding with Prime Minister Netanyahu regarding securing the safe exit of approximately 200 Hamas fighters from southern Rafah.
