A high-ranking Hamas official has stated that Israel’s recent attempt to weaken the Palestinian resistance movement in Gaza’s southern city of Rafah has failed. In a deadly ambush that resulted in the deaths of eight Israeli soldiers, Hamas fighters sent a strong message to the regime.
Sami Abu Zuhri, a member of the Hamas political bureau, declared that the operation in Rafah proved that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s belief that he could weaken the group is nothing more than an illusion. Despite the heavy casualties suffered by the Israeli military, Zuhri emphasized that the resistance remains strong.
Netanyahu expressed his sorrow over the incident, but maintained that the goals of the war must still be pursued. However, Zuhri adamantly stated that Israel’s efforts to eliminate the resistance in Gaza will continue to fail, as demonstrated by the ongoing resilience of the Palestinian people.
The deadly ambush in Rafah comes after Israel’s brutal Gaza onslaught, which began in October. Despite killing thousands of Palestinians, the regime has not been able to achieve its objectives of destroying Hamas or retrieving Israeli captives. The Hamas official’s comments serve as a reminder that the resistance movement remains steadfast in the face of Israeli aggression.
