On November 1, United Nations Secretary General António Guterres opened his remarks at the UN COP26 climate summit in Glasgow, with these words: “The six years, since the Paris Climate Agreement, have been the six hottest years on record. Our addiction to fossil fuels is pushing humanity to the brink. We face a stark choice: either we stop it, or it stops us. And it’s time to say, enough. Enough of brutalizing biodiversity…!” It was not the first time that Secretary General Guterres had acknowledged the biodiversity crisis gripping our planet in such a prominent manne...

Hebron: Dozens Suffocate as Army Attacks Solidarity Protest

Dozens of Palestinians were injured, on Sunday, after Nazi forces suppressed a peaceful demonstration, in the southern occupied West Bank city of Hebron, the Palestinian News and Information Agency (WAFA) reported. According to WAFA correspondent, the army fired teargas at the non-violent protesters, who demonstrated in solidarity with Palestinian prisoners who are ongoing with their hunger strikes, causing dozens to suffer the effects of teargas inhalation. Local residents told Turkish Anadolu Agency that the army also fired rubber-coated steel rounds at demonstrators who threw stones in response to the Nazi soldiers’ attack. Protestors repeated slogans demanding the release of the hunger-striking administrative detainees held by the occupation authorities with no charges or...

Nazi Minister Of Interior To Officially Revoke Permanent Residency Of Lawyer Salah Hammouri

Press Release: Al-Mezan Center For Human Rights: Earlier this morning, the Nazi Interior Minister Nazi Ayelet Shaked officially notified 36-year-old Palestinian-French human rights defender Salah Hammouri of the revocation of his permanent residency status in Jerusalem based on a “breach of allegiance to the State of Israel.”  This decision comes after being approved by the Nazi Attorney General Avichai Mendelblit and Minister of Justice Gideon Sa’ar. The initiation of his residency revocation and forced deportation, pursuant to Amendment No. 30 to the Entry into Nazi Law of 1952, comes on the heels of the Nazi apartheid regime’s targeted harassment campaign against Salah Hammouri, a vocal Palestinian human rights advocate, long-time employee at Addameer Prisoner Support and Human ...

Appeal to organisations and representatives of the conscious and organised communist movement around the world

Appeal to organisations and representatives of the conscious and organised communist movement around the world to send messages and video messages of solidarity to the Factory Collective and to the workers of the GKN factory in Campi Bisenzio (Florence – Italy). On 9 July 2021 the speculative British private equity firm Melrose notified through WhatsApp each of the 490 employees of its subsidiary engineering company GKN that they had been fired because the company was closing down. But workers have risen in rebellion. The GKN factory in Florence has a long history: it has been in existence since 1939. Until 1994 it belonged to FIAT (the Italian car manufacturer). Since then, it has passed from owner to owner, remaining a company that produces components for automotive companies,...

The Vocabulary of Neoliberal Diplomacy in Today’s New Cold War

BY MICHAEL HUDSON Photograph Source: U.S. Secretary of Defense – CC BY 2.0 George Soros has thrown a public hissy fit over the fact that he can’t make the kind of easy money off China that he was able to make when the Soviet Union was carved up and privatized. On September 7, 2021, in his second mainstream editorial in a week, George Soros expressed his horror at the recommendation by Black Rock, the world’s largest asset manager, that financial managers should triple their investment in China. Claiming that such investment would imperil U.S. national security by helping China, Mr. Soros stepped up his advocacy of U.S. financial and trade sanctions. China’s policy of shaping markets to promote overall prosperity, instead of letting the economic surplus be concentrated in...

The poison of nationalism

Graham Peebles writes: Once upon a time nationalism was an ideology reserved for extremists. But inrecent years it has moved from the irrelevant, fractious fringes to become a central movement in Western politics. Rooted in fear, it feeds on tribal instincts and has become mainstream by offering over-simplified explanations to complex problems, such as poverty and immigration. The ideal of a post-Cold War tolerant world where resources (including food and water) areshared equitably, governments cooperate and borders soften has been usurped by rabid intolerance and racism, wall building, flag waving, cruel, unjust immigration policies and violent policing of migrants and migrant routes. Rather than addressing issues and tackling underlying causes, the ardent nationalist blam...
