Yedioth Ahronoth: ‘Israel begged US to broker Gaza ceasefire’

Israel begged US to broker Gaza ceasefire, says Yedioth Ahronoth By Gordon Duff, Senior Editor Rockets are launched towards the Israeli-occupied territories from Gaza City on May 18, 2021. (Photo by AFP) An Israeli newspaper says Tel Aviv begged the US to mediate a ceasefire during the 11-day military aggression on the besieged Gaza Strip that prompted the Palestinian resistance to retaliate with a massive rocket barrage. Contrary to what is believed, Israel was the side trying to achieve a truce during the war, Yedioth Ahronoth reported on Saturday. Terrorism and the Question of Humanity

Haidar Mustafa, Terrorism and the Question of Humanity By Brenda Heard On 15 November, The New York Times published an article entitled “Beirut, Also the Site of Deadly Attacks, Feels Forgotten.”  It highlights the disparity between the global solidarity expressed for Paris following the deadly 13 November attacks and the lack thereof expressed for Beirut after it too was attacked the day prior.  But the headline suggests a petulant attitude from Lebanese who “feel forgotten,” as though they were a bratty child or a snivelling spouse. Granted The Times expresses a degree of compassion for Beirut’s victims, who like those in Paris “were killed at random, in a bustling urban area, while going about their normal evening business.”  But...

Lost in (Hebrew) translation: peace, coexistence, harmony

Gilad Atzmon writes: Those who follow my work are probably familiar with the idea that there is no modern Hebrew word for peace (meaning harmony and reconciliation). The Hebrew word Shalom (שלום) is interpreted in modern Hebrew as “security for the Jews”. In Israel the reference to “shalom negotiation” is construed as a premeditated set of conditions that guarantees “security” for Jewish Israelis by means of secure borders, disarmament of the Arabs, an American commitment to supplying arms to Israel, economic expansion and so on. It would be unreasonable to expect a culture that lacks a lucid notion of peace and reconciliation to lead the region towards harmony and human brotherhood. The truth of the matter is that even in the delusional heydays of the O...

Nazi Troops Abduct 17 Palestinians in Pre-Dawn Raids, Including Children

In the early morning hours on Wednesday, Nazi forces invaded a number of West Bank cities and towns and snatched 17 Palestinian men and boys from their homes as they lay sleeping. These pre-dawn raids occur on a nightly basis throughout the West Bank, and those who are abducted are forced through Israeli military court where they are not told the charges against them or even allowed access to counsel, in most cases. Children abducted in this manner are often interrogated in brutal and inhumane ways without any notification of their parents. In Hebron, in the southern West Bank, Nazi troops abducted Sanad Muhammad Ibrahim Muqbel (13 years), from Al-Arroub refugee camp, north of Hebron, and the two brothers, Baha Al-Din Muhammad Al-Nahnoush (22 years), Omar (15 years), and Muha...
