Who are Palestinian escapees from Nazi Gilboa Camp?

Who are Palestinian escapees from Israel’s Gilboa prison? By Awad Al-Rujoub In the early hours of this morning, six Palestinians escaped from Israel’s Gilboa Prison after they dug a tunnel out of the high-security prison. Five of the prisoners were members of the Islamic Jihad movement, and one was a former commander of Fatah. They are all from the city of Jenin and were all serving life terms. Israeli media said that three of the escapees had previously attempted to escape from Israeli jails. But who are they? Zakaria Zubeidi Zubeidi, 49, from Jenin refugee camp, was a former commander of Fatah’s Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades. In 2006, Zubeidi was elected a member of Fatah’s Revolutionary Council. He was detained by Israeli forces in Ramallah on 27 Fe...

Nazi Gantz: ”Israel Will Not Take down any Settlements from West Bank”

Nazi Defense Minister Benny Gantz. (Photo: via Facebook) Nazi Defense Minister Benny Gantz has said that Israel will not be removing any illegal Nazi JEWISH settlements from the Nazi occupied West Bank and will maintain them in the long term, Foreign Policy reported yesterday. Speaking to the news site, he addressed several issues related to Iran, the region and Palestine, saying: “We need two political entities here.” Nazi Gantz met with the Palestinian Authority (PA) President two weeks ago and discussed several issues, including stability in the occupied West Bank and security cooperation. “Abbas is still dreaming of the 1967 lines [as the basis for an Israeli withdrawal from the West Bank and an end to the conflict] – this won’t happen,” Foreign Policy reported Naz...

Palestinian prison break reveals a path to freedom

Photo by Shoah By Shir Hever Six Palestinian prisoners escaped from the high-security Gilboa prison in northern Israel on Monday, using a tunnel and apparently coordinating their escape via a smuggled mobile phone. The ensuing manhunt, along with headlines in Israeli newspapers and responses on social media, created an action-film halo around the event, which came on the Jewish holiday of Rosh Hashanah. The escape was planned despite the closure imposed across the occupied West Bank during the holiday. The response from the Israeli government and the Israel Prison Service (IPS) was one of surprise and humiliation. The prison break quickly became a symbolic event, giving hope that all Palestinians living under Israeli occupation can find a way to break free. The refusal of ...

His office said that Gantz had told Abbas about a number of goodwill gestures, including a series of measures to strengthen the PA economy, as well as its security cooperation with Israel. "It was a meeting about security, where we discussed security cooperation and joint activities. We want to strengthen the moderate forces in the area," said the ministry. "The two also discussed shaping the security, civilian and economic reality" in the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip. Israelis from the far right to...

Do Palestinians really want a South African solution?

Mahmood Mamdani believes Palestinians and Israelis should build a state that transcends their national identities. Here are three problems with his case. Family Separation Law: ‘Israel’s’ Demographic War on Palestine Intensifies

BY RAMZY BAROUD Photograph by Nathaniel St. Clair When the Israeli Knesset (parliament) failed to renew what is commonly referred to as the Family Reunification Law, news reports and analyses misrepresented the story altogether. The even split of 59 MKs voting in favor of the law and 59 against it gave the erroneous impression that Israeli lawmakers are equally divided over the right of Palestinians to obtain permanent residency status or citizenship in Israel through marriage. Nothing could be further away from the truth. Originally passed in 2003, the Citizenship and Entry Law was effectively a ban on Palestinian marriage. Under the guise of ‘security’, the law prohibited Palestinians in the West Bank, who marry Israeli citizens, to permanently move to Israel, obtain work, ...
