Masters of Space: Deep Space Strategy in the Age of Trump

by: KARL GROSSMAN Image Source: United States Space Force – Public Domain The United States “must be capable of winning wars that extend into space,” asserts a just-released “Defense Space Strategy” report. It is the first space strategy document issued by the U.S. since President Donald Trump, after declaring that the U.S. must achieve “dominance in space,” signed a measure this past December authorizing establishment of a Space Force. The U.S. space strategy is highly aggressive. “The Department of Defense is embarking on the most significant transformation in the history of the U.S. national security space program,” the report says. “Space is now a distinct warfighting domain, demanding enterprise-wide-changes to polices, strategies, operations, investments, capabi...

By Pouring Billions Into Fossil Fuel Industry, EU's Central Bank Accused of 'Playing Both Firefighter and Arsonist'

"By recklessly buying billions in fossil fuel bonds the bank is propping up the single biggest obstacle to tackling the climate crisis." by: Jessica Corbett, Christine Lagarde, president of the European Central Bank, speaks to the media following a meeting in Frankfurt, Germany on March 12, 2020. (Photo: Thomas Lohnes/Getty Images) After the European Union's central bank on Thursday approved what Reuters called "a bigger-than-expected" expansion of an economic stimulus package necessitated by the coronavirus pandemic, climate campaigners expressed concern that planet-destroying fossil fuel companies could get tens of billions of dollars in the Eurozone relief funding. "This is increasingly looking like a recovery package for polluters, not people, desp...

'Israel' and the US step up efforts to intimidate the Hague war crimes court

By Jonathan Cook in Nazareth In the near-two decades since the International Criminal Court was set up to try the worst violations of international human rights law, it has faced harsh criticism for its highly selective approach to the question of who should be put on trial. Created in 2002, the court, it was imagined, would act as a deterrent against the erosion of an international order designed to prevent a repetition of the atrocities of World War II. Such hopes did not survive long. The court, which sits in The Hague in the Netherlands, almost immediately faced a difficult test: whether it dared to confront the world’s leading superpower, the United States, as it launched a “war on terror”. The ICC’s prosecutors refused to grasp the nettle posed by the US invas...

A Superpower in Chaos

by: CHANDRA MUZAFFAR Minneapolis could not have happened at a worse time for the US elites. While violence perpetrated against African Americans by White police officers has happened a number of times before, its occurrence right in the midst of a huge health emergency that has already claimed more than a 100,000 lives and a related massive economic disaster that has robbed 30 million people of their jobs, is truly unprecedented. The mayhem and chaos accompanying the violence have spread to a number of other cities right across the United States of America. What has sparked outrage among thousands of Americans (and not just those of African descent) was the way in which an unarmed Black civilian, George Floyd, suspected of using a counterfeit banknote was killed by a White police o...

Black Lives Matter: Palestinians know Struggle Against Racism is Difficult

By: Mai Abdil-Rahman After the entire country (Black, White, and every shade in between) banded together to keep the COVID19 at bay, America’s persistent pandemic of violent brutality and racism reminded us that unless we eradicate hate from all our institutions we are forever morally implicated for every life hate takes. In early March, Americans united to fight a common challenge. It was most impressive to witness Americans of all races and ethnicities work together to slow the spread of the novel virus to protect fellow Americans. COVID19 does not discriminate and impacts us all. By May, the United States surpassed 100,000 deaths. It disproportionately took more African American lives and left many of them jobless and their families without income. Add insult to injury, as they ...

Zionist puppet Watson criticised for taking money from Change UK funder

Tom Watson criticised for taking money from Change UK funder TOM WATSON is accepting donations of thousands of pounds from a businessman who also finances opponents of the Labour leadership, new figures have revealed. He accepted £10,000 from retired property developer Sir David Garrard on April 12. Mr Watson said the donation was to “support my office as deputy leader of the Labour Party.” However, Mr Garrard also dished out £10,000 to Joan Ryan on March 21 — a month after she abandoned Labour to help form The Independent Group (TIG), now known as Change UK. Ms Ryan — who cited “demonisation and delegitimisation” of Israel as a reason for her defection — received another donation, of £8,000, from the businessman on April 3. At the same time, Mr Garrard has also...

Saving Journalism Will Require Some New Thinking

by DEAN BAKER There has been a new wave of despair among journalists in the last couple of weeks as several major news outlets, including the Los Angeles Times and McClatchy News Service, announced layoffs and/or pay cuts. The immediate cause is the coronavirus. Pandemics sharply reduce advertising opportunities, but the underlying model is clearly not viable for most news outlets. There is a limited amount of money that businesses are willing to pay for web ads, which is now by far the largest form of distribution. This is especially the case when Facebook and Google can offer much better targeted advertising. Subscriptions can raise some money, but apart from the New York Times and a few other elite publications, this source of revenue will not go far in supporting th...

The Temple of Self-Gratification

by JASON HIRTHLER Photograph Source: Ken Walton – CC BY 2.0 Author David Foster Wallace once said that America is, “One enormous engine and temple of self-gratification and self-advancement.” The spectacle of American consumerism comes galloping to mind. But the pageant of gluttony with which we sate ourselves on a weekly basis is a pale reflection, at least in its intensity, of American foreign policy. Like our national addiction to guns mirrors our international addiction to bombs, so too our appetitive instincts at home merely reflect those same greedy impulses writ large in the global arena. From the soul of the gourmand to the surface-to-air missile, the attitude to the world is the same: take what ye would, all else be damned. But while consumers might bankrupt themse...

2020: Elimination of the State of ‘Israel’

By Bohdan Lysystsia for VT In 2020, the state of Israel will cease to exist. At the end of 2018, in search of a place to evacuate, Netanyahu flew to Brazil. Even then, he knew something very important. Recently, a prophecy of a famous Jewish rabbi about the end of the state of Israel in 2020 appeared on one of the sites. The prophecy was said in 1976. Text: “I heard it almost personally. I don’t hint at anything, don’t call for anything, I simply retell it, because this is from a series of stories about the Rebbe that for some reason did not become known (or unreliable, God forbid). With some effort, there is everything you need to reach the participant in the events. Mid-May 2019, Bat Yam, Shabbat farbrengen after morning prayer at the Chabad synagogue. A trustwort...

Erdogan Now Claims Syria’s Idlib Province Belongs to Turkey

On February 26th,  Turkey’s President, told his Islamist political party that Idlib, which is the most heavily jihadist of all of Syria’s provinces and the province where Syria had been sending jihadists who had been defeated but not killed by the Syrian army elsewhere in the Syrian war, is now permanently under Turkey’s protection, and belongs to Turkey — Turkish territory. Russia’s RT news headlined on the 26th, “‘We’re the hosts there’: Erdogan says Turkey won’t pull back from Syria’s sovereign territory, gives Assad ultimatum to retreat”, and reported that,  The Turkish leader has ruled out withdrawal from Idlib, where his forces are backing militants fighting the Syrian Army. He also gave Damascus an ultimatum to retreat beyond Turkey’s observation posts placed ...
