Swiss Court Did its Duty in Microwave Case

NOVANEWS by Tom Valentine     No sooner had Dr. Hertel and Dr. Blanc announced their results than the hammer of authority slammed down on them.  A powerful trade organization, the Swiss Association of Dealers for Electroapparatuses for Households and Industry, known simply as FEA, struck swiftly.  They forced the President of the Court of Seftigen, Kanton Bern, to issue a “gag order” against Drs. Hertel and Blanc. The attack was so ferocious that Dr. Blanc quickly recanted his support–but it was too late; he had already put into Swiss courtwriting his views on the validity of the studies where he concurred with the opinion that microwaved food caused the blood abnormalities. Dr. Hertel stood his ground against the juggernaut only to be ultimately convicted for “interfering with ...

Original Microwave Cooking Report

NOVANEWS Watch for Howls of Protest by Tom Valentine (Editor’s note: While visiting Germany and Switzerland in the spring of 1992, Tom Valentine had an opportunity to meet with Dr. Hans Hertel, the only scientist to conduct a carefully crafted human experiment to test the effects of eating foods cooked in a microwave oven as compared to the effects of eating the same foods cooked conventionally. Millions of Americans eat foods cooked in microwave ovens every day. Most people do not want to hear about Dr. Hertel’s experiment. The electrical appliance establishment in Switzerland did not like his findings and actually lobbied the Swiss courts until they tried Dr. Hertel and found him guilty of “interfering with commerce.” For his good-faith scientific effort, Dr. Hertel was fined a large s...

Cancer is a Business NOT a Disease

NOVANEWS   American People Being Duped by Cancer Business   YouTube - Veterans Today - by Tom Valentine Cut Poison Burn is a searing film that illuminates the grim truth about America’s so-called War on Cancer. This thought-provoking documentary takes on the forces that have conspired to thwart meaningful advances in cancer research and treatment over the past century. These forces include the federal government (in its effort to label and persecute innovators as quacks), drug companies eager to suppress alternative treatments and powerful industry organizations that place profit over human lives. The story centers on the Navarros, a family struggling to keep their young son alive. The war between the Navarro Family and the FDA is perhaps this country’s greatest evidence as to ...

Basal Cell and Squamous Cell Skin Carcinomas

NOVANEWS   Skin Cancer is Simply an Uncontrolled Growth of Abnormal Skin Cells Carol Ware Duff MSN, BA, RN   Skin Cancer Skin cancer will affect one out of five Americans, making it the most common form of cancer.  The American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) states there are greater than two million cases of nonmelanoma  (basal cell and squamous cell) skin cancer diagnosed every year.  Most skin cancers occur after the age of 50, but skin damage from the sun has long been taking place before the appearance of skin cancer.  Australia has almost four times the rates of those skin cancer cases in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom which ranks that country as having the highest rates of skin cancer in the world. Skin cancers are grouped into melanoma and nonmelanoma g...

Santa Monica jumps on the male circumcision ban bandwagon

NOVANEWS   Bill to ban male circumcision under the age of 18 has already made it to the San Francisco ballot; if the measure passes it will become a misdemeanor offense. Haaretz A week after it was announced that a bill to ban male circumcision made it on the November 2011 ballot in San Francisco, a similar campaign was proposed on Wednesday in Santa Monica. The group MGM Bill wants the anti-circumcision measure on the November ballot in Santa Monica. The San Diego group got more than 7,700 valid signatures from city residents, meaning voters will be asked to weigh in on what until now has been a private family matter. MGM stands for male genital mutilation. MGM Bill founder Matthew Hess told the Los Angeles Times that California law prohibits female genital mutilation and boys...

Ryan’s Medicare Theft Plan

NOVANEWS   by Mike Stathis According to estimates from the CEPR, Ryan’s proposal to essentially gut Medicare will save the government $4.9 trillion from 2022 to 2084. However, costs of private coverage shifted to beneficiaries would add an additional $34 trillion more than what would be paid under traditional Medicare. In total, seniors would pay $39 trillion more under the Ryan plan between 2022 and 2084. This huge sum of money (which is about one-half of the annual GDP of the world) amounts to more than seven times the $4.9 trillion Social Security shortfall expected through 2084. In other words, under the Ryan healthcare “theft” plan, for every dollar of savings to Washington, nearly seven dollars is wasted due to the inefficiency of private insurance (see the last chart). This add...

NHS “listening exercise"

NOVANEWS "When we tell him his plans aren't working, he doesn't seem to want to hear what we're saying." Dr Hamish Meldrum, Chair of the British Medical Association, May 2011 Dear All,  There are just ten days of health minister Andrew Lansley's NHS “listening exercise" left. It's pretty clear what he'd like to happen next. He wants to use his stage-managed exercise as an excuse to claim he's listened – before ploughing ahead with his reckless NHS changes. YouGov research paid for by 38 Degrees members has found that 95% of the public have no idea how to get involved with the "listening exercise". [1] That suits Lansley down to the ground! By working together we can expose this sham and stop the listening exercise being used as cover to push through Lans...

NHS PETITION

NOVANEWS Dear All ,  Over the past week we've all been forwarding the Save the NHS petition to our friends, and sharing it on Facebook and Twitter. It's working - between us we gathered 100,000 more signatures in the last seven days! Meanwhile, 38 Degrees members have started handing in copies of the petition to their local MPs. This weekend, in Blackpool, East Kilbride, Truro, Filey and Sheffield, 38 Degrees members asked their MPs to oppose Andrew Lansley's dangerous NHS plans. Watch what happened on Friday evening when 38 Degrees members in Sheffield delivered a copy of our petition to Nick Clegg: Nick Clegg was visibly taken aback at the size of the petition. Several of his aides had to help him carry it! 38 Degrees members made it clear to Clegg that he needs to stand up to Lans...

Save Our NHS

Dear All, My name is Geraldine and like you I'm part of 38 Degrees. I live in Sheffield. This Friday, I am going to deliver a copy of the Save Our NHS petition to my local MP – Nick Clegg. In the next few weeks, Nick Clegg has to decide whether or not to dig his heels in to block dangerous changes to the NHS. This is our chance to put pressure directly on him. I want to show him that there are hundreds of thousands of people standing behind me, urging him to stand up for the NHS. Can you help by adding your name to the petition now? You can add your name here: http://www.38degrees.org.uk/save-our-nhs Like for so many of us, the NHS is very important to me. I have a type of epilepsy that means I could have a seizure at any moment. Thanks to the care and professionalism of NHS staff, I live ...
