Naziyahu Says It’s Anti-semitic For Nazi Soldiers To Describe Their Own Atrocities

Posted by: John Phoenix Netanyahu Says It's Antisemitic For Israeli Soldiers To Describe Their Own Atrocities ([screenshot]) By Caitlin Johnstone, Reposted from Caitlin’s Newsletter, June 27, 2025 https://youtu.be/bQ6ypM-jDZ4 Sometimes I’ll write a headline that looks odd on its face, but then I’ll lay out facts and arguments that allow the reader to understand the validity of the claim by the end of the essay. This is not one of those times. This headline is just me saying the thing that happened. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz are publicly denouncing a report from an Israeli newspaper quoting Israeli soldiers who describe atrocities they were ordered to commit in the Israeli military, accusing the r...

Syrian election: Assad victory is gall to imperialism

Posted by: John Phoenix May’s presidential election in Syria was won resoundingly by the incumbent president, Bashar al-Assad, who secured 95.1 percent of the vote on a turnout of 78.6 percent. The polling went ahead at over 12,100 polling centres across the country, whilst Syrian refugees and expats cast an early ballot in the embassies of their host countries. A total of 18 million Syrians at home and abroad were registered to vote in the election. Syria’s foreign ministry thanked the expats and refugees for their massive participation in the presidential election. Many of these are hampered from returning home by obstacles placed by the West on the path to reconstruction, and it is welcome that they have seized the opportunity to help choose the ruler for the next seven y...

The sad downfall of the Syrian government

Posted by: John Phoenix At long last, US imperialism and its surrogate in the Middle East, Israel, have, at least temporarily, achieved their long-held dream of overthrowing the Syrian government headed by Bashar al-Assad.  In the latest instalment of the conflict between Syria and the US-Israel combine, events unfolded in a way, and with a speed, no-one had expected. The jihadi head-chopping, throat-slitting, heart-eating serial rapists and torturers broke out of their haven in the province of Idlib and launched their assault on 27 November, capturing within a week Aleppo (the second largest city in Syria), Hama (the third largest), followed by Homs and the capital Damascus on the 8th of December. The fall of Damascus within 12 days and the flight of Assad to Moscow...

Zionists, beaten in Gaza, pursue a wider conflict

Posted by: John Phoenix War crimes Between 7 October 2023 and 15 August 2024, the Zionist murder squads – the Israeli armed forces (IDF) – have slaughtered 40,634 Palestinians, of whom 40,005 were in Gaza.  11,445 of the victims (30%) were women, and 16,251 children. 92,000 have been injured, some of them very badly.  10,000 lie under the rubble, presumed dead (4,900 women and children). The world-leading and highly prestigious medical journal, The Lancet, applying a conservative estimate of four indirect deaths for every direct death, has reported that it is not implausible to estimate that up to 186,000, or even more, deaths could be attributable to the current conflict in Gaza. This amounts to over 8% of Gaza’s population that stood at 2.3 million before...

All eyes on the ‘enemy within’ – adjustments to PREVENT in the wake of Al Aqsa Flood

Posted by: John Phoenix “The state is a product and a manifestation of the irreconcilability of class antagonisms. The state arises where, when and insofar as class antagonism objectively cannot be reconciled. And, conversely, the existence of the state proves that the class antagonisms are irreconcilable” (V.I. Lenin, The State and Revolution), Workers within the state machinery, particularly schools, are becoming increasingly aware of the British state’s growing anxiety over pro-Palestine (specifically pro-Palestinian Resistance) sentiments within the UK. The state has ramped up its vigilance regarding such sentiments, culminating in it making updates and adjustments to the PREVENT strategy guidelines in February/March 2024.  The most fundamental changes, are ...

OBITUARY – Yahya Sinwar

Posted by: John Phoenix By Scott Ritter, reproduced with thanks Yahya Sinwar was killed fighting Israeli soldiers in the ruins of Gaza. His death will serve as an inspiration for Palestinians for years to come. If there is to be a free and independent Palestine, it will be because of the sacrifice made by Yahya Sinwar in the cause of its creation. He is the true father of Palestine. He was a child of the camps, born into captivity in the Gazan Khan Younis refugee camp, the son of Palestinian citizens of Majdal ‘Asqalan (present-day Ashkelon) who were forcibly driven from their homes by Israeli forces in 1948 in what is referred to as the Nakba, or catastrophe. He was one of the first to join Hamas when it broke away from the Palestinian branch of the Muslim Brotherhood...

The fall of Syria

Posted by: John Phoenix On 8 December it was announced that President Bashar Al Assad had resigned from the office he had held since the year 2000 and had left the country. A statement released later stated that he was in exile in the Russian Federation and this has been subsequently confirmed by President Putin. Assad’s resignation brought about the end of the Syrian Arab Republic and a terrible defeat for Arab nationalism, Ba’athism and the axis of resistance.  The fall of Assad was followed by direct intervention by two regional allies of US imperialism – Turkey in the north and Israel in the south. The Israeli air force has carried out hundreds of bombing runs targeting every Syrian military installation, ammunition dump and intelligence centre they can find. The Syria...

Gaza – the long war for liberation

Posted by: John Phoenix The ceasefire in Gaza marks a humiliating defeat of both the Zionist regime as well as its US and British imperialist masters. The Palestinian people’s steadfast refusal to be expelled from their land and allow the Israelis to carry out their much desired second Nakba must act as an inspiration to those of us in the imperial core nations. For over 15 months the Zionist regime relentlessly bombarded the people of Gaza, destroyed homes and killed hundreds of thousands. For all the horrors that have been inflicted upon them, the people of Gaza continued to resist the Zionist forces and, even though the latter had the full backing of US and British imperialism, the Israeli regime could not beat the resistance. The Israeli regime failed in their stated aims o...

Yemen: It’s democracy that the US is fighting, not Al Qaeda

Posted by: John Phoenix A pair of trousers catches fire in an aeroplane close to Detroit and missiles rain down on Yemen.  Is this what is called the butterfly effect?  For Mohammed Hassan, the terrorist threat is only an excuse.  In this latest chapter in our series ‘Understanding the Muslim world’, our specialist [Mohamed Hassan] explains what is really at stake in Yemen: i.e. undermining democracy in the Gulf in order to keep control over its oil. [see www.michelcollon.info] ______________________________ Since the failed attack on the Amsterdam-Detroit flight, Yemen has hit the headlines.  It’s there that the young Nigerian terrorist is supposed to have trained.  How could this country, an ally of the US, become a refuge fo...
