“THE MASSACRE OF ROHINGYA MUSLIMS GOES ON IN BURMA” BUT THE WORLD KEEPS SILENCE!

NOVANEWS        (Mayupress) The sectarian unrest is no new strange human tragedy in Arakan, the northern province of Burma where minority Muslim Rohingyas have been attacked by Buddhists for quite again and again. The persecution of the stateless Rohingyas had started for decades of years. The Muslims make up nearly five percent among more than 53 million populations. And the largest group of Burma’s Muslims is generally known as the Rohingyas, who mainly live generations to generations in the western state of Arakan or Rakhine. Elsewhere rape or murder is a crime, and there are laws to deal with a rapist or murderer, according to an analyst*. I am sure in Burma there must be instances of a Buddhist committing such crime against a Buddhist. Usually none bothers to find out what relig...

Big Oil, Burma and the Genocide Against the Rohingya: My new Guardian column on the environment blog network – Earth Insight

NOVANEWS I'm absolutely delighted to announce that I've been contracted to The Guardian to write my own column, Earth Insight, on the newspaper's pioneering environment website. As you can imagine, this is pretty amazing and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to raise awareness of the key issues I write about to a mainstream audience. The Guardian is the world's third most popular newspaper website, with a daily readership of 4.6 million people worldwide, and a readership base which just keeps getting larger every year (by about 13 per cent). So one could hardly wish for a better mainstream platform. Via my Earth Insight column, I'll be doing exclusive reporting, muckraking commentary, and detailed transdisciplinary analysis, informed by my systemic and holistic approach to environmental ...

C.I.A Pupet Suu Kyi to run for presidency of Burma

NOVANEWS Burma's opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi has indicated her intention to run for the presidency, with elections due to be held in 2015. Addressing world leaders and heads of business at a major forum, the Nobel Peace laureate called for the amendment of the military drafted Burmese constitution which prevents her from leading the country. NOVANEWS   Over 350 garment workers have lost their lives in the collapse of the factory where they were working in the Rana Plaza complex in Savar, just north of Dhaka. As this is written, around 900 are still listed as 'missing' and with every minute that passes the likelihood of them being added to the 350 becomes more certain. The owner of the RanaPlaza, Sohel Rana, a man described as politically 'connected' is still being sought after it came to light that his building was knocked up on the cheap without having to abide by costly regulations.
