Hamas is building a society of sorts in Gaza 14 Jul 2010 There are increasing numbers of reports from inside Gaza, including this piece today in the New York Times that rightly says, “Gaza, on almost every level, is stuck”. Journalist David Rose offers a slightly different view, claiming that while life in Gaza is undoubtedly tough, many people are simply getting on with life and the situation is complex: Reporting from Gaza usually consists of two well worn tropes, and conveys little of the realiti...

Coalition forces who aid that government are seen as “naive at best,” and “‘co-conspirators’ at worst.”" Long and prosperous live Gaza tunnels "Egyptian smugglers managed to smuggle nearly 48 new cars into the Gaza Strip via a tunnel specially made for smuggling vehicles." NOVANEWS Dear Friends, At about 6PM spouse and I returned home from a long, hot, day in the Salfit governate of the West Bank. We visited friends and checked out a few places to see if anything had changed since we last were there in April, just before leaving for 6 weeks in the San Francisco Bay Area. The Salfit area is not in the news these days, the focus now being on Gaza and East Jerusalem.   The reasons for their taking the spotlight are justifiable.  Nevertheless it is worth knowing that in this small area of the West Bank, the occupation instead of lessening appears to be becoming ever more entrenched. For instance, the number of buildings in the colony of Revava (built on land belonging to Palestinian residents of Hares) have grown.  When we first began paying attention to the col...
