NATO fighter jet ‘accidentally’ fires live missile near Russian border

NOVANEWS RT  Spanish fighter jets taking part in a NATO Air policing mission over Estonia have been temporarily suspended from completing their duties, after one of the pilots erroneously fired an armed missile during a training flight. A group of two Spanish Eurofighter Typhoon 2000 jets and two French Mirage 2000 jets were taking part in a training exercise over southwestern Estonia on Tuesday when one of the Spanish planes accidentally launched an air-to-air missile, the Spanish Defense Ministry said in a statement, adding that the projectile “did not hit any aircraft.” All the jets then safely returned to their Saiuliai air base in Lithuania, the ministry said, adding that it has opened an investigation into the incident. Meanwhile, the Estonian authorities decided to ban the Spanish ...

Secret Meeting on the Privatization of Nuclear War Held on Hiroshima Day 2003

NOVANEWS Behind closed doors at Strategic Command Headquarters By Prof Michel Chossudovsky Global Research The Trump Administration’s Nuclear Posture Review 2018 has called for “the development of new, more usable nuclear weapons”. The 2018 NPR is in many regards Déjà Vu. What seems to have escaped the numerous media reports on the 2018 NPR is that the development of “more usable nuclear weapons” had already been put forth in George W. Bush’s 2001 Nuclear Posture Review, which was adopted by the US Senate in late 2002. In this regard, Senator Edward Kennedy had accused the Bush Administration for having developed “a generation of more useable nuclear weapons.” namely tactical nuclear weapons (B61-11 mini-nukes) with an explosive capacity between one third and 6 times times a Hi...

NATO Used Depleted Uranium Munitions in 2011 Libya Airstrikes

NOVANEWS By: Sputnik International Note to readers: please click the share buttons above   A military operation against the government of Muammar Gaddafi, conducted by NATO in 2011, led to a civil war and split the country into three parts with different governments and various militant groups. A report, made by a group of Libyan nuclear experts, says that NATO forces missiles with depleted uranium. “We conducted a study at one of the headquarters of the Libyan army, which was bombed by NATO. There were places with increased levels of radiation. After precise measurements we found that this radioactivity was a result of using an assembler with depleted uranium,” Nuri al-Druki, an advisor to the Libyan committee for the environment and nuclear energy told Sputnik. He also stat...

Chaos at the NATO Summit Benefits Eurasian Integration

NOVANEWS By Federico Pieraccini Strategic Culture Foundation Note to readers: please click the share buttons above  The chaos that has engulfed the NATO summit is yet further confirmation of the world’s transition from a unipolar to a multipolar order, with the return of great-power competition and different states jockeying for hegemony. Trump is adapting to this environment by seeking to survive politically in a hostile environment. The meeting of the NATO countries in Brussels highlighted the apparent intentions of the US president towards his allies and the Atlantic organization. Trump’s strategy is to oblige the European countries to halt energy imports from Moscow and replace them with liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the US at a price that is obviously not cheap. The gas...

Understanding the US/NATO Profit-Driven Military Agenda

NOVANEWS By Prof Michel Chossudovsky Towards a World War III Scenario: The Dangers of Nuclear War by Michel Chossudovsky Available to order from Global Research in print AND pdf formats! CLICK TO LEARN MORE The US has embarked on a military adventure, “a long war”, which threatens the future of humanity. US/NATO weapons of mass destruction are portrayed as instruments of peace. Mini-nukes are said to be “harmless to the surrounding civilian population”. Pre-emptive nuclear war is portrayed as a “humanitarian undertaking”. While one can conceptualize the loss of life and destruction resulting from present-day wars including Syria and Yemen, it is impossible to fully comprehend the devastation which might result from a Third World War, using “new technologies” and advanced weapon...

NATO Summit Declaration. Hostile to Russia, Signed by All Member States

NOVANEWS By Stephen Lendman Global Research Note to readers: please click the share buttons above  Following day-one of July 11 and 12 summit talks in Brussels, NATO issued a declaration, signed by all member state leaders, including Trump and Turkey’s Erdogan. It’s unacceptably hostile to Russia – “accusing us of provocative activities and…gnashing its teeth,” according to its Foreign Ministry. The  lengthy declaration, prepared ahead of the summit, accused Russia of occupying Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova. It turned truth on its head claiming Moscow “illegitimate(ly) annex(ed) Crimea.” A further litany of Big Lies about Russia followed. The summit declaration criticized Moscow’s legitimate defensive military activities in its own territory, threatening no one – unlike US-domin...

Zionist Trump Threatens End of NATO Alliance

NOVANEWS As Trump Threatens End of NATO Alliance, UK Defence and Security at Risk Given Israeli Involvement? By Hans Stehling Global Research Note to readers: please click the share buttons above   The British government, having ignored warnings about the wisdom of allowing the non-EU, non-NATO member, Israel, to be a contractor to the UK Ministry of Defence, now faces the possibility of a seriously compromised national security. Israeli Likud leader, Binyamin Netanyahu, is Trump’s nuclear lapdog in the Middle East and the Israeli position as a Defence Contractor to the British Armed Forces is now a serious embarrassment and a potential danger to the UK. For our national defence to be in the hands of the only secret nuclear weapon state in the world with an estimated 400 undecl...

Italy, Behind the Parade. Italy’s Active Involvement in US-NATO led Wars 'Video'

NOVANEWS By Manlio Dinucci Global Research The event on June 2nd (the day in 1946 when Italy became a Republic) was not a military parade, not even a parade, but a “review”, according to the Ministry of Defense that directed it (Minister Pinotti’s final act). The parade at the Fori Imperiali – in front of the newly-installed government – was symbolically opened by 330 mayors representing civil society, followed by all the sectors of the Armed Forces, to celebrate “Italians’ Day – United for the Country”. In his message, President of the Republic Mattarella expressed the gratitude of the Italian people to the Armed Forces for “the precious work they carry out in many troubled regions of the world to assist the populations who suffer from armed conflict”, a work based on “our Con...

Facebook & Atlantic Council unite: Now social media giant serves NATO’s agenda

NOVANEWS By Bryan MacDonald  Facebook has engaged a think tank funded by weapons manufacturers, branches of the US military and Middle-Eastern monarchies to safeguard the democratic process. It’s akin to hiring arsonists to run the fire brigade. If Facebook truly wanted to “protect democracy and elections worldwide,” it would build a broad coalition of experts and activists from a wide and disparate range of the countries it serves. Instead, the American social media giant has outsourced the task to NATO’s propaganda wing. For the uninitiated, the Atlantic Council serves as the American-led alliance’s chief advocacy group. And its methods are rather simple: it grants stipends and faux academic titles to various activists that align with NATO’s agenda. Thus, lobbyists become “fellows” and ...

Washington and NATO Are Escalating to Conflict

NOVANEWS By Brian CLOUGHLEY | Strategic Culture Foundation  The Trump Administration in Washington is ramping up confrontation and preparing for war all over the globe, from the South China Sea to the Baltic via the Persian Gulf. The countries of the US-NATO military alliance have vastly increased their military spending and are boosting deployment of their forces in Europe in accordance with the policy of Enhanced Forward Presence — the positioning of strike aircraft, missile-armed ships and armoured formations as close as possible to Russia’s border. In March 2018 NATO’s Deputy Secretary General, former US Under Secretary of State Rose Gottemoeller, spoke to the media at Warsaw’s military airport and was effusive about the forward movement of US-NATO troops. She “wanted to say what an ...
