Ukraine, NATO, and the Polish Problem

by Ted Snider  Poland has been one of the most assertive proponents of Ukraine’s entry into NATO and of NATO’s escalating involvement in the war, from providing tanks to providing fighter jets. As Ukraine’s chances of rapid entry into NATO have faded and their chances of victory in the war are falling apart, there has been talk of the threat that Poland could intervene more directly to bring Ukraine into NATO or NATO into Ukraine. Russian President Vladimir Putin and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko recently very publicly discussed the threat they perceive of Poland occupying Western Ukraine and the threat posed by Polish troops massing on the Belarusian border. Several analysts have also suggested that there have been discussions on Poland uniting with Western Ukrai...

JAKE JOHNSON An estimated 500,000 people took to the streets of the capital Warsaw and other Polish cities on Sunday to protest the nation's far-right government, which has assailed reproductive freedoms, attacked the rights of LGBTQ+ people, and cracked down on critical civil society groups and media outlets. Desperate for a ‘win’ in Europe, USA mulls merging Ukraine with Poland

The war in Ukraine once more reveals imperialist hypocrisy over its alleged defence of the ‘rights of nations’. Proletarian writers Subscribe to our  channel Ukronazis subsumed into a new superstate with Poland (and maybe Lithuania, too)? What could possibly go wrong? Some US policymakers may be fantasising about a new east European superstate under their control, but even the most rigorous rewriting of the history books will have difficulty convincing Poles to forget about the genocide they suffered at the hands of Stepan Bandera and his SS partners-in-crime during WW2. Whilst the collective west hypocritically chides Russia for supposedly disrespecting the rights of sovereign nations, misrepresenting Russia’s justified measures to defend its own borders a...

The sanctions proposed by Morawiecki will likely be opposed by some of the bloc’s members.  Speaking to Poland’s RMF radio station, Morawiecki said that his government is constantly reporting back to Brussels on “holes and loopholes that Russia uses to circumvent sanctions,” while “directing” the bloc on ...

Polexit looming?

Just 17 years ago, when Poland and Hungary joined the EU, western imperialism was rubbing its collective hands with glee as what they perceived to be a noose, tightened around the neck of now capitalist, but still independent, Russia.  The influence of even right wing eastern European states within the EU, however, has had a wonderfully destabilising effect upon that entity with the exasperation of imperialism summed up nicely by the executive director of Defend Democracy, Alice Stollmeyer, who has said; “The EU can only be as strong as it is united, and when it’s not, others rejoice, Putin must be watching with a box of popcorn.” For the record, Alice, we’re loving the spectacle as well! Oh, and by the way, if you’re wondering, ‘Defend Democracy’ is another of those Brussels...
