JEWISH BOAT TO GAZA SUPPORTED BY MILIBAND'S MUM

NOVANEWS September 27, 2010 I think there has been a certain amount of relief in leftish, anti-war and Palestine solidarity circles that Ed Miliband beat his brother, David, in the contest for leader of the UK's Labour Party. Brother David was implicated in the wars on Iraq and Afghanistan, the torture of rendition victims and he was an ardent supporter of the Zio=Nazi State of 'Israel' whilst in office and never uttered a critical word after leaving office. I'm not expecting much better of brother Ed really but at least brother David has been punished for his unprincipled opportunism. Ok, all that is by the by. I have heard many times that the mother of the Miliband brothers and the widow of their father, legendary British marxist, Ralph Miliband, is an activist with Jews for Justice for ...

JEWISH BOAT ON ITS WAY

NOVANEWS   September 27, 2010    Gilad Atzmon Haaretz reported this week that a boat carrying Jewish activists from Israel, Germany, the U.S. and Britain set sail on Sunday for Gaza, hoping to breach Israel's blockade there and deliver aid. 9 Jews will participate in this brave mission: amongst them is Rami Elhanan, an Israeli peace activist whose daughter Smadar was killed in a suicide bombing in 1997. Elhanan rightly maintained that it was his moral duty to act in support of the Palestinians in Gaza because reconciliation was the surest path to peace.  "Those 1.5 million people in Gaza are victims exactly as I am," he said. Refusnik Israel Air Force pilot Jonathan Shapira, another passenger aboard the ship, told Haaretz that "we hope that the soldiers and officers of the Israel...

Y.SHAPIRA'S JOURNAL FROM THE JEWISH BOAT TO GAZA

NOVANEWS Journal of a voyage By: Yonatan Shapira 26 September 2010 The course is 120. Another 200 miles to the port in Cyprus and the automatic pilot in the boat, which is supposed to maintain the course, refuses to work and leaves me with the unending task of maintaining the course on a turbulent sea with no sign of land from horizon to horizon. In another half hour, Itamar, my brother, who is also a “refusnik,” will relieve me at the wheel, after him Bruce and then Glyn will take their shifts. If everything goes according to plan, we will reach Famagusta at midday on Saturday, and there we will pick up the rest of the passengers, who together with us, as strange as it may seem, will try to break the blockade of Gaza. For some weeks already we have been making our way east, from t...

GANDHI: ''THE JEWS'' 1938

NOVANEWS September 26, 2010 by Gordon Duff   GHANDI  A TRUTHFUL HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE ON PALESTINE, THUS AGREEING WITH NOTHING ANYONE IS SAYING TODAY ‘THE JEWS’, BY GANDHI – FROM HARIJAN, NOVEMBER 26, 1938 Several letters have been received by me asking me to declare my views about the Arab-Jew question in Palestine and the persecution of the Jews in Germany. It is not without hesitation that I venture to offer my views on this very difficult question. My sympathies are all with the Jews. I have known them intimately in South Africa. Some of them became life-long companions. Through these friends I came to learn much of their age-long persecution. They have been the untouchables of Christianity. The parallel between their treatment by Christians and the treatment of untouchables by ...

TAGLIT-BIRTHRIGHT PROGRAM

NOVANEWS Rachel Marcuse spent 10 days in Israel as part of the Taglit-Birthright program -- a fully sponsored trip for young North American Jews to learn more about the country. She went to bear witness and ask questions about the Israeli state's treatment of Palestinians, and to learn about other complex issues in Israel today. After the program, she spent another 10 days elsewhere in Israel and the West Bank of Palestine talking to Israeli Jews, Palestinian citizens of Israel, international activists, and Palestinians in the occupied territories. . This series first appeared in rabble.ca . "Birthright" trips are a major tool employed in an effort to influence how young Jews feel about Israel.  In addition to reading Rachel Marcuse's account of her experiences on the trip, I got to hear ...

Nevertheless, it is unfortunately a necessary evil these days and something that has to be done. As the readers of The Ugly Truth and listeners of its sister program know, both sites are offered free of charge. The fact that they are free to everyone else however does not mean it is free to us here putting it all together. I know everyone is feeling the pinch right now in a terrible way, but anyone out there in the position to help us out with the costs associated with doing what we do here should know ...
