Yemeni Youth Are Still Starving to Death Due to US-Backed Saudi Blockade

The World Food Programme is warning Yemen is headed toward the biggest famine in modern history, with the U.N. agency projecting around 400,000 Yemeni children under the age of 5 could die from acute malnutrition this year as the Saudi war and blockade continues. CNN senior international correspondent Nima Elbagir says Yemen is accurately described as “hell on Earth.” Her latest report from inside Yemen details the devastating impact of the conflict on civilians, including widespread fuel shortages affecting all aspects of life. “We were utterly unprepared for what we found when we got there,” says Elbagir. Yemen’s Death Sentence

BY CHARLES PIERSONFacebookTwitterRedditEmail Photograph Source: Felton Davis – CC BY 2.0 “Disappointing” was how UN Secretary-General António Guterres described last week’s donor conference for Yemen.  The fifth UN Virtual High-Level Pledging Event for the Humanitarian Situation in Yemen resulted in pledges of only $1.7 billion.  That’s just half of the $3.85 billion called for by the secretary-general.  Nor is there any guarantee that donors will make good on their commitments. How things have changed from just three years ago.  There were $2.01 billion in pledges in 2018, “100 per cent of which were fulfilled,” according to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.  Pledges the following year rose to $2.6 billi...

Yemeni forces advance further towards heart of Ma’rib

Yemen’s army and Popular Committees have liberated more areas from Saudi Arabia-led forces in the countryside of Ma’rib, the capital of a west-central province of the same name. The victories came about on Tuesday across the city’s western and north-western suburbs, al-Khabar al-Yemeni news website reported. The Yemeni forces have resumed their advances against the aggressors in the province since Saturday, it said. Ever since, they have managed to take back many areas, including some parts of the province’s Sirwah District and a large number of garrisons close to the Sahn al-Jin military camp in Ma’rib. The camp hosts the defense ministry of Yemen’s Saudi-allied former government and is hence of considerable strategic importance. The former officials fled Yemen in 2015 am...

Yemen says to unveil new missiles as Saudi steps up airstrikes

By VT Editors  Press TV: Saudi military aircraft have carried out a spate of airstrikes in Yemen’s Hudaydah as the kingdom presses ahead with a military campaign against its southern neighbor, despite announcing a “new peace initiative.” Yemen’s al-Masirah television network, citing local sources, reported that Saudi warplanes launched two missiles at Hudaydah International Airport early Sunday. There were no immediate reports about possible casualties and the extent of damage. Saudi fighter jets also conducted two airstrikes against al-Faza area in the al-Tuhayat district of the same Yemeni province, with no casualties and damage immediately reported. Saudi warplanes mounted an air raid against al-Luheyah district as well. On March 22, Saudi Fore...

US still fully engaged in crushing Yemen with hi-tech weaponry

By Jim W. Dean, Managing Editor Yemeni forces, allies shoot down US MQ-9 Reaper drone in Ma’rib …from PressTV, Tehran [ Editor’s Note: The US MQ-9 Reaper drone follows a long line of other US hi-tech weapons being tested in little country wars to gain operational experience to uncover and fix flaws and discover the best tactical situations in which to use them. Notice how credit for the shoot down includes the Yemeni air defences and ‘its allies’. Iran is usually accused of providing such defense support, but the Saudi coalition has not published anything specific about other contributors that I can remember. Notice that the Yemen missile appears to be a kinetic energy one, not exploding on contact but slicing through the drone, meaning the missile had so...

The Story of the Wests Secret Nuclear Attacks on Yemen

By Gordon Duff, Senior Editor Video of a nuclear attack on Syria by Israel, one of several–VT: in 2015, Saudi Arabia and Israel began joint operations against Yemen using nuclear weapons.  The weapons were deployed by Israeli equipped F 16s but the weapons were from a limited Saudi arsenal of ten nuclear weapons that were built by Israel in the nation of Mali, according to the IAEA.–The material for the weapons was stolen from the US with full complicity of the Clinton and Bush governments, over 300 nuclear pits, a project run by Victor Bout, the infamous “Lord of War” and longtime CIA-Mossad asset.  We begin with this 2015 story from Pravda.–This Russian government publication, published simultaneous to VT’s investigation, analyzes a now banned YouTube ...

Yemen: On the Sixth Anniversary of “Operation Decisive Storm”, Derailment and Violations Amounting to War Crimes

By VT Editors  Geneva- SAM for Rights and Liberties: The level of enjoyment by individuals of their fundamental rights in the country is constantly declining because of the serious and illegal encroachments carried out by all parties involved in the conflict in Yemen six years ago , emphasizing that the participation of some States in the conflict in Yemen had deepened the effects of the violations suffered by the Yemenis, stressing that their intervention had not respected the basic principles of human rights in the war, and that the practice of some of those States had violated Yemen’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and the safety of its citizens.  In a statement issued simultaneously with the sixth anniversary of the launch of the so-called military operati...

Yemen War Powers Act resolution passes House

Posted by: John Phoenix Analysis Morgan Artyukhina Download PDF flyer On Feb 13,  the U.S. House of Representatives advanced a resolution that would force the Trump administration to abandon its support for the Saudi coalition’s genocidal war in Yemen. The measure does not address the United States government’s own undeclared war in Yemen, which a specific exclusion in the resolution would allow to continue unabated. Representatives voted 248 to 177 to invoke the War Powers Act of 1973, which forbids U.S. armed forces from remaining in military actions for longer than 60 days without explicit congressional approval. While numerous U.S. presidents have flagrantly violated the War Powers Act, Congress has never before asserted its power to force the U.S. military...

Yemen sheds light on ‘direct US-Qaeda relationship

By VT Editors  Yemeni armed forces say they have obtained evidence that point to the existence of a “direct relationship” between the United States and the Takfiri al-Qaeda terrorist group as well as a former Yemeni administration’s role in the formation of the ties. Press TV: The armed forces issued a statement on Tuesday, saying it had come by the contents of telephone calls between former Yemeni president Ali Abdullah Saleh and George Tennet, an ex-chief of the US’s CIA spy agency. One of the conversations pointed to the existence “of direct relationship between the CIA and al-Qaeda terrorists and cooperation on the part of the Saleh government’s officials in formation of the relationship,” the statement noted. In the conversation, Tennet is ins...

US falters over Yemen war, while Britain stops its ears

While the US looks to hide its defeat behind talk of peace and principles, Britain continues blatantly to prioritise the interests of its arms manufacturers. Lalkar writers Yemeni army troopers and allied resistance fighters launched a missile attack on an airbase in Saudi Arabia's southwestern region of Asir in February. It is strikes such as this one on Saudi military and oil infrastructure that have convinced many that the Yemeni resistance forces are winning, despite all the heavy weaponry and starvation tactics that have been deployed against them. The question now for the imperialists is: how to end the war without admitting defeat? The Yemeni armed forces and their popular auxiliaries have now for six years stood firm against the US-backed and Saudi-led genocidal...
