Iraqi bloc to sue Turkey PM over meddling in internal affairs

NOVANEWS Turkish citizens protesting zionazi erdogan According to the al-Qanoon News Agency, Ahrar al-Iraq bloc will file charges against the Turkish premier for harboring Iraq’s fugitive vice-president Tariq al-Hashemi, who has received multiple death sentences in absentia over involvement in terrorist activities and running death squads in post-war Iraq. The movement also criticized Turkey’s President Abdullah Gul for calling Shias a minority group in Iraq, saying his remarks aimed at fomenting discord among Iraqis. On Sunday, several Iraqi lawmakers and politicians condemned as “unacceptable” Turkey’s interference in their country’s internal affairs after Erdogan accused the Iraqi government of sectarian behavior. Ahmad al-Hosseini, an Iraqi political activist, said the T...

Op-Ed: US-UK Genocide Against Iraq 1990-2012 Killed 3.3 Million-Including 750K Children

NOVANEWS  By: SHERWOOD ROSS     By Sherwood Ross Approximately 3.3 million Iraqis, including 750,000 children, were “exterminated” by economic sanctions and/or illegal wars conducted by the U.S. and Great Britain between 1990 and 2012, an eminent international legal authority says. The slaughter fits the classic definition of Genocide Convention Article II of, “Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part,” says Francis Boyle, professor of international law at the University of Illinois, Champaign, and who in 1991 filed a class-action complaint with the UN against President George H.W. Bush. The U.S. and U.K. “obstinately insisted” that their sanctions remain in place until after the “illegal...

Reporter’s Notebook: Iraqi Boy Hit by American Missile – 10 Years Later

NOVANEWS news.yahoo.com The British tabloid the Sun has reported that a man named Ali Ismail Abbas was married last month. I hadn’t heard or read that name in many years and seeing it again — and especially the news of his marriage — brought back a flood of memories and emotions. The first and last time I saw Ali Abbas was in 2003. He was 12 years old lying naked on a medical examination table at a hospital in Kuwait City. His torso was charred black in some places. Other patches were red and raw. He had no arms, just a pair of stumps protruding from each small shoulder. He was shrieking in agony as doctors huddled over him and began working on him. I remember it vividly. It was a piercing, horrible sound that rang in my head long after we had left the hospital. Ten years ago, Ali Abbas ...

You’ve Never Seen a Face as Sad as a Mother Watching her Baby Die.

NOVANEWS By Donna Mulhearn I’ve never seen a face as sad as a mother watching her new baby die. I saw it several times in the week I spent in Iraq’s Fallujah Hospital recently, but the most heart-breaking was the round, brown face of the woman in the pink dress. I entered the room in which she sat, motionless, just staring intently at her baby in the humidicrib in front of her. She did not turn to look at me, despite my odd appearance: white girl in oversized black abaya and untidy hijab juggling a camera and notebook. I attracted stares throughout the hospital but the woman in the pink dress was too engaged with her baby to notice. The women’s baby girl was struggling to breathe. Her little tummy heaving up and down too fast. She had complex congenital heart defects, like so many babies...

Was World War Two just as pointless and self-defeating as Iraq, asks Peter Hitchens

NOVANEWS  It makes me feel like a traitor to write this. The Second World War was my religion for most of my life. Brave, alone, bombed, defiant, we, the British, had won it on our own against the most evil and powerful enemy imaginable. Born six years after it was over, I felt almost as if I had lived through it, as my parents most emphatically had, with some bravery and much hardship in both cases. With my toy soldiers, tanks and field-guns, I defeated the Nazis daily on my bedroom floor. I lost myself in books with unembarrassed titles like Men Of Glory, with their crisp, moving accounts of acts of incredible bravery by otherwise ordinary people who might have been my next-door neighbours. I read the fictional adventures of RAF bomber ace Matt Braddock in the belief that the stories w...

3,000 US troops secretly return to Iraq via Kuwait

NOVANEWS US troops (file photo) Over 3,000 US troops have secretly returned to Iraq via Kuwait for missions pertaining to the recent developments in Syria and northern Iraq, Press TVreports. According to our correspondent, the US troops have secretly entered Iraq in multiple stages and are mostly stationed at Balad military garrison in Salahuddin province and al-Asad air base in al-Anbar province. Reports say the troops include US Army officers and almost 17,000 more are set to secretly return to Iraq via the same route. All US troops left Iraq by the end of 2011, after nine years of occupation, as required by a 2008 bilateral security agreement between the two countries. The troops left Iraq for the neighboring Kuwait. Washington decided to pull out all its troops from Iraq after Bagh...

Report: Fugitive Iraqi VP Meets Mossad Officers in Turkey

NOVANEWS Turkish-language daily, Melliyat, quoted Ankara officials as saying that Hashemi has had a meeting with three agents of the Israeli spy agency, Mossad, and asked them for a visit to Tel Aviv. The Turkish official also told Melliyat that Hashemi intends to use Israeli influence on Washington to persuade US officials to return him to power. Hashemi, who has was given a death sentence last month by an Iraqi court for betraying his country and orchestrating terrorist operations in Iraq, had a similar meeting with Mossad agents in Turkey last month. Al Mustakbal Al-Iraqi daily quoted informed sources in the Iraqi Kurdistan region as saying that Hashemi has used the meeting to send a letter to Zionist politicians and the US intelligence bodies. The report quoted the informe...

Iraq: A War For Israel

NOVANEWS by Mark Weber This is another one from the archive of the Institute of Historical Review dealing with a vital issue: On who's behalf was the war with Iraq fought? It certainly wasn't fought on behalf of the people of Britain. As I recall, about a million people took to the streets against the war and it didn't make a damn of difference. Of course there would be less need to dredge up old issues if the whole thing wasn't being repeated. Iraq was one of Israel's few credible military opponents. The others are Syria and Iran (and Egypt?) so, as they say, go figure. The U.S. invasion of Iraq in March-April 2003, and the occupation of the country since then, has cost more than four thousand American lives and more than $500 billion, and has brought death to many tens of thousands of I...

U.N. chief appeals for countries to take Iran dissidents (TERRORISTS)

NOVANEWS news.yahoo.com U.N. chief Ban Ki-moon appealed on Thursday for countries to consider resettling several thousand Iranian dissidents living in Iraq who were recently moved to a former U.S. military base in Baghdad from a camp where they lived for decades. In a report to the Security Council, Ban said 3,112 members of the People’s Mujahideen Organization of Iran have been transferred to Camp Hurriya, leaving about 100 still at Camp Ashraf - also know as Camp New Iraq - to help close it down. Ashraf residents agreed in February to move to the new camp, where the United Nations intends to process them for refugee status in other countries, but they have complained that the conditions at the new base are poor and that they have not been permitted to bring many of their personal belon...
